OPERATIONS

SUMMARY

MARCH,1988 The unit entered March at 100% power.

The plant conducted its first Emergency Plan Drill utilizing the replica simulator.

100% power was maintained throughout the month.

MAJOR SAFETY RELATED MAINTENANCE During the month of March, TMI Unit 1 perforced the following major maintenance:

Emergency Diesel Generator EG-Y Emergency Diesel Generator EG-Y-1B was removed from service during the month of March for corrective maintenance.

The following work items were completed.

1.

Engine Coolant Leaks were repaired.

2.

Remote shutdown relay contacts 69XDG were cleaned.

3.

Flatness checks were performed on the exhaust extension elbow and new gaskets were installed to prevent oil leakMe.

4.

B'icwer '.,11 leaks were repaired.

5.

Cylinder temperature thermocouples were replaced.

l 6.

Governor wire insulation was repaired.

7.

Turbocharger insulation was replaced.

l 8.

Vibration analysis was perforned on the turbocharger.

All work was completed and the diesel was tested and returned to service.

1991 is the last refueling discharge which allows full core off-load capacity (177 fuel assemblies).
