Gentlemen:

j SUBJECT: HRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-348/88-01 AND 50-364/88-01

l This refers to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) inspection conducted by

l P. G. Stoddart and W. B. Gloersen on January 4-7, 1988. The inspection

included a review of activities-authorized for your Farley facility. At the

.

conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with those members of

l

your staff identified in the enclosed inspection report.

.

Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the report. Within

i

these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures

and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of

activities in progress. The purpose in reviewing the allegations in this

report was to evaluate the technical elements of an allegation, not to

evaluate the aspects of an allegation normally reviewed by the NRC's Office of

) Investigations.

l In addition, this report details findings of Report Nos. 50-348/86-05 and

1 50-364/86-05, which initially reviewed many of these allegations. Specific

l

'

details from that inspection were not included in the report since they may,

at that time, have identified a confidential alleger.

1

Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were

identified.

In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," Part 2

Title 10 Code cf Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure

will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
