Mr. Robert L. Schimmel 1515 Nicholas Road Dayton, OH 45418 Gentlemen:
This refers to the special inspection conducted from June 9 through July 1,1988, by Mr. M. A. Kunowski of the Region III Office to confirm the adequacy of the decontamination and survey activities in and around Buildings 7, 10, and 11.
The tentative results of the inspection were discussed between you and Mr. Kunowski at the end of the on-site portion of the inspection.
Soil samples and smears taken during the on-site inspection were later analyzed at the RIII Laboratory.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report describes the results of those analyses and the final results of the inspection.
In a report dated June 27, 1988, you submitted the results of the' decontamination and resurvey of a small floor area in Building 7 that was identified in our survey as having residual contamination in excess of NRC guidelines.
This report and the results of our inspection as described in the enclosed copy of our inspection report will be used with information previously submitted by you to complete the processing of your request to terminate the NRC Special Nuclear Material License No. SNM-567.
