February 24, 1988 Management Meeting This refers to the February 24, 1983 management meeting, held at your request in the Region I office (See Enclosure 1 for Attendees). We appreciate your interest in keeping us informed of yr.,ur initiatives, plans and priorities at the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station.

Matters discussed during this meeting included various initiatives implemented in response to NRC SALP report recommendations, maintenance program enhance-ments, inservice test program initiatives, radiological control program improvements, improvements in the assurance of quality and the success of improvements to the emergency planning program. Of particular note were your approach to current motor operated valve limit switch settings, your continuing improvement to motor operated valve reliability, establishment of an open item closecut program, improvements to the ALARA program resulting in a low outage man-rem accumulation, current problems you are experiencing with IST vibration monitoring and the successful 1987 emergency exercise.

On our part, we indicated that improved open issue closecut can be attained by arranging to provide closecut documentation packages prepared by you to region-based reviewers for of f site review. To submit such packages for review, you need only provide them to the resident inspector.
