.This forwards the report for the above subject resident inspection of
Millstone 1.
The inspection results have been discussed with Mr. J. Stetz
of your staff,
We identified a concern involving adherence to ACP-QA-4.03B, "Material Equipment
'
Parts List." The ACP requires verification within sixty days and prior to an
evaluation's incorporation into the MEPL.
It nonetheless appears that the
diesel generator speed switch was cl.issified as a non-QA part in October of
1986 and this evaluation was not verified until May .1988. We have classified
this matter as unresolved pending further review.
The associated safety and
performance significance is increased, in our view, by the NNECO verifying
engineer's response statement (Report Detail 8.2) that there were no procedural
requirements relating to the time interval between a MEPL determination and its
verification.
