NRC Region III recently received allegations pertaining to improper / incomplete background screeniag requirements provided to Comonwealth Edison for granting unescorted access to the Zion Nucleat Generating Station. The enclosure to this letter describes the allegations received and the identity of the contractor company involved in the identified issues.
We request that Comonwealth Edison Company fully analyze the allegations, initiate an appropriate independent investigation, and take all actions deemed appropriate. We also request that the results of your review and disposition of this matter be submitted to us within 45 days after receipt of this letter.
The enclosure to this letter should be strictly controlled and distribution limited to personnel only with a "need-to-know" until your investigation of the allegation has been completed and reviewed by NRC Region III. The enclosure to this letter is considered as Exempt from Public Disclosure in accordance with Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 2.790(a).
