COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 AMSAC SER EVALVATION REPORT RESPONSE CLARIFICATION REF:
- 1) Telephone conversation between Mr. B. Stevens (NRR), Mr. A. Holan (EG&G) and TU Electric on March 2, 1988.
- 2) W. G. Counsil letter TXX-88151 to NRC dated February 16, 1988.
- 3) W. G. Counsil letter TXX-6769 to NRC dated October 9, 1987 Gentlemen:
As requested in Reference (1) the following provides additional information c'oncerning CPSES's compliance to Revision 1 of the AMSAC Generic Design Package.
In addition, the AMSAC scheduled implementation date has been included in this submittal.
l As discussed in Reference (2), Westinghouse increased the C-20 arming-off-delay time to 360 seconds in WCAP-10858P-A Revision 1 "AMSAC Generic Design Package".
The CPSES AMSAC system will comply with this revision, with the.
)
exception of the C-20 arming-off-delay time.
For the CPSES AMSAC system, Westinghouse has selected a setpoint of 260 seconds for the C-20 arming-off-delay.
This setpoint is based on Westinghouse generic analysis, j
generic data and plant specific process considerations.
Westinghouse document "Precaution, limitation and Setpoint," Rev. 3 confirms the C-20 anning-of f-delay time of 260 seconds for CPSES.

C TXX-88281 March 18,1988 Page 2.of 2 in Reference (3) TV Electric stated that the CPSES AMSAC system would be implemented by March 1988.
However, a Westinghouse delay in providing the supporting qualification documentation has impacted this schedule.
Due to this delay and our delay in plant heatup, AMSAC is currently scheduled to be implemented by October 31,1988 'for Unit 1 and before Unit -2 fuel load for Unit 2.
