Several months ago, you were issued an Exemption to the license I
for the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant related to the requirements I
of 10 CFR 50.46(a)(1) that require ECCS perfomance to be calculated in accordance with an acceptable calculational model which fully confoms to the provisions of Appendix X,10 CFR 50. The previously I
approved model for your facility was found to contain errors and thus does not fully confom to the provisions of Appendix K.
As a condition of that Exemption, as soon as possible, you are l
required to submit a revised analysis of ECCS cooling perfomance i
calculated in accordance with a revised Westinghouse evaluation model, corrected for the identified errors and approved by the l
l NRC.

By letter to Westinghouse dated August 29, 1978, the NRC has l
approved a revised Westinghouse ECCS evaluation Nodel which Corrects
[
the identified crrors (associated,with the :f rconium-water reaction heat generation).

Accordingly, you should proceed to subanit the revised analysis for your facility as soon as possible. Within 20 days from the date of this letter. provide us with your schedule for submittal i
of this revised analysis.
