Dear Thomas:
Thank you for your willingness to help put together the technical program for the 1989 ANS Reactor Operations Division Topical Meeting on Reactor Operating Experience.
Our first meeting of the Technical Program Committee is scheduled for March 1, 1988 in Charlotte, NC.
A primary charter of the American Nuclear Society is to facilitate the distribution of information among its members and the nuclear industry.
As the Reactor Operations Division, our goal for this topical meeting is to provide a program which is meaningful and useful to those involved in the day-to-day operation of the plants.
While we have selected the theme "Plant Operations - The Human Element", this Will not limit or restrict the content of the technical program.
The primary purpose of our meeting next month will be to identify the session titles for each of the twelve technical sessions.
I have attached a preliminary list, but we can expect to spend some time brainstorming so please give it some thought before the meeting.
After we have settled on the session titles, we will need to identify (or propose) a session chairman for each.
This may be a member of the Technical Program Committee or some other individual from the industry.
I will have more information available relating to the role of the session chairman at the March meeting.
Our meeting will be held at the Marriott City Center, in Salon B, in Charlotte (707-333-9000) on March 1, 1988.
I plan to start at 8:00 am in order to finish up shortly after lunch.
If you are flying into Charlotte, there is a Yellow Cab van available to take you from the airport to the hotel (cost $4).
If you will be staying at the Marriott on February 29, there is a reduced rate ($52) available if you tell them you are associated with the American Nuclear Society, Reactor Operations Division.
Again, thank you for your support.
I'm looking forward to seeing you March 1.
/Whm Henry B.
