Dock 0t No. 50-352 Attachment to Monthly Operating Report for January 1988 Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 January 1 through January 31, 1988 I.
Narrative Summary of Operating Experiences The unit began the report period operating at approximately 1004 pever.
While performing the monthly Operability Functional Test on the D14 Diesel Generator a lack of governor control was experienced during the operability run.
An investigation into the incident revealed that the-multi-contact local / remote switch had weak spring pressure on one of the contacts.
The problem was corrected, additional contacts were checked, and the D14 Diesel Generator Operability Functional Test was satisfactorily completed.
While conducting the RCIC Turbine Trip Functional Test, the turbine trip could not be reset.
An investigation determined that a worn turbine trip throttle valve component prevented the turbine trip throttle valve from being reset from the Control Room.
The valve was manually closed and the turbine trip reset.
Engineering is developing a repair method to correct the deficiency.
The RCIC system is in an operable status.
On January 24, 1988, reactor power was reduced to 81% to facilitate control rod scram testing.
The testing was satisfactorily completed and reactor power was returned to 100%
on January 25, 1988.
l The unit ended the report period operating at approximately 100% power.
II. Challenges to Main Steam Safety Relief valves There were no challenges to the Main Steam Safety-Relief valves during the month of January.
