DPR-62 SUBMITTAL OF UNIT 2 CORE SHROUD RE-INSPECTION PLANS Gentlemen-i The purpose of this letter is to provide to the NRC the latest plans for re-inspection of the core shroud for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant (BSEP), Unit No. 2. These re-inspections are planned for the upcoming Unit 2 refueling outage (8213R1), which is presently scheduled to begin on September 13,1997.
On July 25,1994, the NRC staff issued Generic Letter 94-03, "Intergranular Stress Corrosion Cracking of Core Shrouds in Boiling Water Reactors." Generic Letter 94-03 requested that licensees submit plans for inspections of the core shroud at least 3 months prior to performing such inspections. Although the Generic Letter does not address re-inspection plans, Carolina Power & Light Company is submitting the BSEP Unit No. 2 re-inspection plano using the

Generic Letter as guidance. Enclosure 1 of this letter provides the BSEP Unit No. 2 l
re-inspection scope and associated bases. The results of these re-inspections will be submitted to the NRC within 30 days following completion of the inspections.
