Narrative Summary of Operations May 1997 i
The fourteenth refueling outage continued through the month of May.
There was no major safety related maintenance performed during the month.
The following maintenance was associated with outage activities:
- 1. Completed steam generatorinspections and repairs. Plugged 113 tubes bringing the total effective plugging level to 7.0%. Installed 996 sleeves, which includes the retum to service of 149 previously plugged tubes.
- 2. During a walkdown perforraed for investigation of IC reactor coolant pump vibrations, it was noted that the gaps for the 1C steam generator lateral supports were incorrect. As a result of the walkdown, adjustable shims were installed to set clearances to the correct position.
- 3. As part of the power uprate project, the IB condensate pump was replaced l
with the spare pump which had three of the seven impellers replaced with impellers designed to increase dynamic head and flow.
- 4. As part of the power uprate project, RTD sensor cables were rerouted to enable credit to be taken for thu ability of the RCS OPDT reactor trip to mitigate l
a main steam line break.
l
- 5. The electrical power and control components of the penetration room filtration system were upgraded to 10CFR50.49, Environmental Qualification (EQ) requirements.
- 6. The 1B motor control center room,1B residual heat removal pump room and l
1 A auxiliary feedwater pump room coolers were replaced.
- 7. The installation of the RCS zine addition system was completed.
