MOTION OF ELECTRICAL DISTRICT NO. 2 FOR EXTENSION OF TIME TO FILE PETITION TO INTERVENE Pursuant to Section 2.711 of the Rules of Practice of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, 10 C.F.R. S 2.711, Electrical District No. 2, a political subdivision and Special Purpose District of the State of Arizona, created and existing pursuant to Title 30 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, respectfully requests an extension of time to and including November 8, 1978, within which to file a petition to intervene in the above-captioned proceeding. In support thereof, Electri-cal District No. 2 states as follows.

1 "lectrical District No. 2 is in competition with Arizona Public Service Company in providing electric service to industrial, commercial and certain residential customers in Pinal County, Arizona. Therefore, Electrical District No. 2 may be directly affected by the outcome of this proceeding.

By Notice published in the Federal Register on September 25, 1978, the Commission established October 25,.1978 as the filing date for petitions for leave to intervene. However, additional time is required for the Board of Directors of Electrical District No. 2 to convene and determine the course of action relative to this proceeding which will most effectively protect the interests of Electrical District No. 2. Consideration by the Board of Directors will include a decision as to whether the filing of a petition to intervene will serve these interests.

Counsel for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Staff has advised that it has no objection to the granting of this motion.

WHEREFORE, Electrical District Ho. 2 respectfully requests that the time for filing petitions for leave to intervene in this proceeding be extended from October 25, 1978 to and including November 8, 1978.

Res en fully submitted, c _,d.
