License Amendment Application to Delete the Technical Specification and Basis Section on Chlorine Detection Systems (TAC No. 66734)
Gentlemen:
Enclosed is an application for an Amendment to the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1 Operating License No. NPF-3, Appendix A, Technical Specifications.
This application requests that the Technical Specifications be revised to reflect the changes attached. The proposed changes involve deleting Technical Specification and Basis Section 3/4.3.3.7, Chlorine Detection Systems. Due to the replacement of the gaseous chlorination system with a liquid sodium hypochlorite system, there are no longer any sources of chlorine near Davis-Besse that would pose a threat to control room habitability. Therefore, automatic isolation of the control room by the Chlorine Detection System is no longer needed. Toledo Edison also requests that the Technical Specification index be updated to reflect these changes.
