Response to NRC Bulletin No. 88-01: Defects in Westinghouse Circuit Breakers Omaha Public Power District (0 PPD) received NRC Bulletin No. 88-01 on February 9,1988 which provides information on Westinghouse series DS circuit breakers and safety concerns associated with their use and requests that if these breakers are used in Class lE service, perform and document inspection of the welds on the pole shafts and inspection of the alignment in the breaker closing mechanism.
After a thorough review, OPPD has concluded that there are no current applications of Westinghouse series DS circuit breakers at Fort Calhoun.
Therefore, since no Westinghouse series DS circuit breakers could be found in use at Fort Calhoun, the requirements of this bulletin do not apply to OPPD.
