l I approve publication of the draft regulatory guides, standard j
review plans and NUREG document for a 90-day public comment j
l period and agree with the chairman's comments included in her vote on this 8ECY paper.
I would also like to reiterate to the staff that they continue to pursue the long range goal of l
improving the overall quality and consistency of-PRAs performed by different licensees by promoting high quality standards.
l Finally, the staff should, in response to the January 1997 SRM, pursue the development of additional performance-based objectives l
that are not amenable to PRhs but could be ranked according.to i
relative ~hasards analyses, and phase in these initiatives.
