This will confirm a discussion on the telephone on December 3, 1974, with ucebers of your staff concerning your July 31, 1974 submittal of the ECCS analysic for Yankee-Rowe, to demonstrate compliance with 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix K.

I single failure involving the failure of a diesel generator to start following a loss of coolant accident coincident with the loss of offsite power.
Since this assue:ption is different: from the worst single failure determined by Westinghouse in a sensitivity ctudy, reported in Westinghouse Ecport WCAP-8340, we requested that Yankee provide additional information to justify this exception. Your staff advised us that Yankee will submit the requested information by December 6, 1974.
