NRC BULLETIN 87-01, "THINNING 0F PIPE WALLS AT NUCLEAR l'0WER PLANTS" Oh July 9,1987, NRC Bulletin 87-01 was issued requesting that licensees for nuclear power plants holding an operating license or a construction permit submit information concerning their programs for monitoring the thickness of pipe walls in high-energy single-phase and two-phase carbon steel piping sys-tems. TV Electric responded to the Bulletin by letter dated September 8,1987 (TXX-6705).

The information you provided is being used to determine the extent of inaustry participation and implementation of erosion / corrosion inspection programs and to obtain data on observed aipe wall thinning. The staff does not plan to determine the adequacy or t1e acceptability of your program at this time. As such no further plant-specific action with respect to the Bulletin is required.

We will notify you should there be any future action that may be required re-garding the subject of Pipe Wall Thinning. Should you have any questions please contact Melinda Malloy at (301)492-0738.
