Dear Sir:

Ycur letter, Reference (2), requested additional information of Yankee Rowe's evaluation, Reference (3), which considered the potential for a reactor vessel overpressurization event as a result of a single equipment f ailure or single operator error; and the design or-procedural modifications required to preclude such an occurrence. We now find we cannot provide the submittal 'ithin the time allotted.

The extreme number, complexity of questions, and request for additional analysis, to supplenent the information and analyses submitted in Reference (3), cannot be provided within the 45 days allotted. Each operating nuclear power plant for which Yankee-SSD has operational responsibility is scheduled for ref ueling outages, the '

first, connencing April 9, if77. As a result, core reload analyses take precedence over the additional analyses you have requested.

Regardless of our delayed response the schedule for implementation of ,

the design change, discussed in Reference (3), will remain unchangad.

He therefore intend to submit the additional information requested in your letter, Reference (2), on or before May 29, 1977.
