THIS DOCUMENT CONTklNS POOR QUAUTY PAGES E Yankee acwe Vermont Yankee Pains Taskee To respond to an order from the Atomic Safety Licensing Appeal Board relating to the River Band Station Units 1 and 211censin5 proceeding, we cust prepare testimony which recuirca certain information concerning fuel usage in operating reactors. Tina is of Ersat essence on this project; therefore, the Operating leactor Project !!anager has contacted you by ta' sphone resarding our requiracants. Supplying the information is antirely voluntary and is not required under the Commission'e rules and regulations; however, your cooperation in supplying the information will be greatly appreciated. The information we receive from you will be combined with similar data from other operating nuclent power plants to provide an overview of fuel utilization in operating reactors. The specific information that we need for each reload since the reactor startup is:

1. Day, month and year of reactor ahutdown and restart.
2. The average Uraniuw-23) enrichneet in the reload.
3. If say fraction of the reload was previously exposed, what fraction i was exposed, and what was the exposure in megewatt deye per natric tonne of uranium (hWD/MTU) and the quantity of uraniun in actric tonnes (IC).

4 The predicted average exposure in WD/?ftU at the tino the fuel was loaded.

5. The eatinated average exposure in MUD /1trU of the discharged fuel.

If lese than 90% of predicted, explain why.

6. The average Uranium-235 enrichnent when discharged.

APR 2 31976 C. Was the fuel clad in stainless steel or ::ircaloy?

9. Did the reactor have sufficient reactivity 1 cit to operate at full power when it was shut down for reloading?

.10. Was the reactor shut down for other than raa.ctivity limitationo that were expected to exist prior to the next - 4 '.ing? If yes, why?

(See No. 5)

11. Was an incore power. monitoring progren used to eniculate the discharged exposure? If not, how were the exposures ascertained?
12. The total energy produced by the reactor (M1o-days) during the cima interval hetii6in reloading.

To prepare testimony as soon as practical, the Project Manager has requested an early verbal .responso. We would prefer that the information you give un be confirmed in writing. If the use of this informaton for the intended purpose is restricted in any way, please indicato the decree of rectriction.
