SUBJECT:

REVIEW 0F LICENSE AMENDMENT APPLICATION DATED JULY 19, 1978 REVIEWER:

N. Ketzlach

Background

The Energy Systems Group (ESG), Rockwell International, by application dated July 19, 1978 requested a change in the name of the licensee from the Atomics International Division (AI) Rockwell International Corporation to the Energy Systems ' Group, Rockwell International Corporation. The change in name is necessary to reflect a change in the company organization.

Discussion AI has become one of the divisions of a newly formed Energy Systems Group of the Rockwell International Corporation. Transactions which formerly were conducted in the name of AI will henceforth be conducted in the name of the Energy Systems Group of Rockwell International.

With the formation of the 11ew group, the staff and procedures for the handling, use and physical protection of the special nuclear materials has not been affected. There is no change in the nuclear criticality, radiological safety or the environmental controls associated with the operation of the facility.

General The amendment application of July 19, 1978, was discussed with W. J. Cooley, Region V (I&E) Fuel Facilities Inspector of the Rockwell International facility, on August 28, 1978.

He saw no safety or environmental problems with the name change of AI.

2-Conclusion The name change of AI to the Energy Systens Group of P.ockwell International does not affect the presently authorized nuclear criticality and radiological safety controls and procedures. They are adequate to protect the health and safety of the operating personnel, the public, and the environment.
