Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 - DIESEL GENERATOR HYDWeULIC 3CTUATOR MOTORS - NCR 855 - THIRD INTERIM REPORT The subject condition was initially reported to NRC-01E Region II Inspector J. K. Rausch on March 16, 1978, and interim reports were submitted on April 19, 1978, and June 15, 1978.
TVA has been informed that the vendor of the diesel-generator units, Power System, Division of Morris-Knudson Company, Inc., has instructed the governor manufacturer, Woodward Governor Company, to conduct tests on an identical governor speed control motor.
These tests are to examine the effect of DC voltage variance on the governor speed control motor and establish its relation to the deficiency.
We will transmit our next report to your office by December 20, 1978.
If you have any questions concerning this matter, please get in touch with M. R. Wisenburg at FTS 854-2581.
l Very truly yours,.
