Hamess/ Positive Plate Lug Disconnect in List IS Round Cell Battery On April 29,1997 Lucent Technologies (" Lucent") forwarded to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission an Interim Report ofInvestigation on the Harness / Positive Plate Lug Disconnect.
As evaluation progressed, Lucent investigated the manufacturing procedures as the probable root cause of the deviation. This investigation, however, has led to inconclusive results.
Lucent is submitting the enclosed Amended Interim Report ofInvestigation. As summarized on page 7 (AMENDMENT TO THE CONCLUSIONS), the present focus of our investigation is the operating conditions as the probable root cause of the deviation.
Lucent is conducting this evaluation with engineers at Duke Power - McGuire Station.
Though the evaluation will be conducted expedificusly, Lucent requests an allowance of 60 days. We will forwa.J a report to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission no later than Monday,
