[7 /C PDR hA/,7 As requested, I met with NRC, USGS, and GE representatives at the Vallecitos Nuclear Facility on 8-24, in company with Ben Page.

' Proposals for trenching, possibly seismic profiling, and possibly drilling to resolve questions about faults and land-slides were discussed in depth. These plans are well thought out an'd hdyc a good chance of resolving the prob 1 cms. It was a productive meeting, although no final conclusions can be drawn.

I'd like to reserve further comments pending rcccipt of the,back-Bround geologic material.

Ben and I also spent a couple of hours in the field looking at rock exposures, examin .ng the evidence regarding faulting, and sccing how the proposed trenches may pi down the questions.
