REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WATERFORD UNIT NO. 3 l

301.44 Please refer to OLER, page 3.4.2. Table 5.1.3, and Table 5.1.5.

If the average low river flow at Waterford site is about 200,000 cfs, then according to Table 5.1-3, the average low water level (ALWL) should be about 2.3 ft MSL dbstead of 0.9 ft itSL as stated on page 3.4-2.

Please clarify this.

301.45 Please refer to OLER, page 3.4-3.

If the ALWL is indeed 2.3 ft MSL, then for four pump operation, the discharge velocity into the river should be about 6.1 fps instead of 7 fps as stated on page 3.4-3.

Please clarify this.

30.146 Please refer to OLER, Table 5.1.2.

For average spring flow condition, the discharge velocity at Waterford 3 should be 2.5 fps instead of 1.9 fps as shown in the Table 5.1.2.

Please check this.

301.47 The project vicinity is in an archaeological 1y sensitive area for historic site location, according to a letter we received recently from Dr. E. B. Carrier, i

the Louisiana State llistoric Preservation Officer. His maps indicate the project to be in the location of the old Waterford Plantation. While portions of this site may have been destroyed by previous levee construction and industrial activity, significant cultural remains may still be present. The previous survey was restricted to the proposed power line routes and intake and discharge structures, and no evidence of this site was discovered.

In order to determine the impact on the Waterford Plantation and on any unknown cultural resources, we request that you ccnduct a cultural resources survey of the remaining portions of the property. This should include an intensive archaeological survey with systematic sub-surface testing, and an architectural survey of all standing structures. We request that all buildings be documented with clear photographs in your response to this request for additional information. This survey should be coordinated with the State llistoric Preservation Officer to insure that he finds the survey adequate. His address is:
