APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Pennsylvania Power and Light Company Docket Nos. 387; 50-388 i
Susquehanna Units No. 1 and 2 License Nos. NPF-14; NPF-22 1
As a result of an inspection conducted on January-12,1988, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR 2, Appendix C), the following violation was identified:
Technical Specifications Section 6.12.1 states that "... each high radia-tion area -in which the intensity of-radiation is greater than 100 mrem /hr i
but less than 1000 mrem /hr shall be barricaded and conspicuously posted as a high radiatirn area...".
J Contrary to tb 2 above, on January 12,- areas with dose rates of up to 400 mr/hr, which ~.onstitute High Radiation Areas, were not postr.d as required.
Specifically, those areas immediately adjacent to the main turbine front standards for both Units 1 and 2 were not posted.
This is a Severity Level IV Violation (Supplement IV).
Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Pennsylvania Power and Light is hereby required to submit to this office within 30 days of the date of the letter transmitting this Notice, a written statement or explanation-in reply, i
including:
(1) the reason for the violation if admitted; (2) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (3) the corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (4) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be I
give. to extend this response time.
