Docket No. 50-352 Attachmsnt to Monthly Operating Report for February 1988 Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 February 1 through February 29, 1988 I.
Narrative Summary of Operating Experiences Th's unit began the report period operating at 100% power.
On February 16, 1988, reactor power was reduced to approximately 50% to perform tube leak testing on the
'A' circulation water loop of the main condenser.
In addition, the sixth string feedwater heaters were removed from service to repair leaks on the steam side of the heaters.
Following condenser tube leak testing and maintenance repair work on the feedwater heaters the unit returned to full power operation on February 20, 1988.
On February 21, 1988, reactor power was reduced to approximately 80% to facilitate control rod pattern adjustments.
Full reactor power was restored on February 22, 1988.
On February 26, 19887, the long path recirculation reactor feedwater bypass valve, HV-041-109A, developed a packing leak causing an increase in main steam line tunnel temperature.
Operators initiated a CLOSE signal to the already closed valve which significantly reduced the leak and main steam line tunnel temperatures normal.
Steam line tunnel temperatures are being monitored and a method to eliminate the valve packing leak is being evaluated.
The unit ended the report period operating at 100% power.
II. Challenges to Main Steam Safety Relief Valves There were no challenges to the Main Steam Safety-Relief valves during the month of February.
