SUBJECT:

COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 CABLE TRAY SEPARATION CRITERIA SDAR: CP-87-102 (INTERIM REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On September 11, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. H. S. Phillips of a deficiency involving a potential conflict between cable tray installations and the design requirements for cable tray separation.

Specifically, the minimum separations design criteria for vertical trays and conduit for open ladder trays may have been violated due to conflicting inspection criteria utilized by CPSES Quality Control.

This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our most recent interim report was logged TXX-7076, dated December 9,1987.

We are continuing our evaluation of this issue and expect to submit our next report no later than May 26, 1988.

Very truly yours,

{Al, $.
