Dear Mr. Thompson:

Pursuant to 10 CFR Part 70.34, Commonwealth Edison Company proposes to amend Special Nuclear Materials (SNM) License SNM-1945 (Reference (a))

which authorizes receipt, possession, inspection and storage of uranium in the U-235 isotope contained in fuel assemblies. The proposed amendment will allow the instal.'.ation and use of the Post Accident Fission Detectors in Braidwood Unit 2.

These detectors have been received and are currently under the control of the Braidwood Unit 1 operating license, NPF-72.

The revised License pages are contained in Attachment A.

Commonwealth Edison is notifying the State of Illinois of our application for this amendment by transmitting a copy of this letrter and its attachments to the designated State Official.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 70.21(e), no fee is required to accompany this amendment request.
