This letter acknowledges the granting of enforcement discretion on December 31, 1987, with respec.t to a terrporary deferral from Technical Specification (TS) surveillance requirement 4.7.6.c. The required surveillance test was deferred for a period not to exceed 48 hours5.555556e-4 days <br />0.0133 hours <br />7.936508e-5 weeks <br />1.8264e-5 months <br />. We understand that the surveillance test was subsequently perfortred satisfactorily on January 1,1988.
You requested enforcement discretion in this instance because you were unable to prorrptly test the control room filtration system as required by TS 4.7.6.c, after painting in the control room envelope. To preclude future problems in this area, we understand that you are revising appropriate procedures to ensure that any future painting in the control room envelope will be handled as a controlled maintenance activity and that the control room filtration units are not to be operated while painting is in progress.
We will review irrplementation of these changes at a later date.
