Enclosed is an August 19, 1978 internal NRC memorandum concerning pipe cracks reported in large diameter piping systems of a foreign I
boiling water reactor (BWR). The NRC Staff is in the process of reviewing the significance of this phenomenon with respect to domestic BWRs.
The results of that review will be furnished to the Board when completed.
