Gentlemen:
This refers to the inspection conducted by Messrs. R. C. Stewart and R. C. Haag
of this office during the periods October 21-23 and 27-30, 1987, of activities
authorized by NRC Operating Licenses NPF-6 and DPR-51 for Arkansas Nuclear One,
U.:its 1 and 2, and to the discussions of our findings with members of your
staff at the conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during the inspection included actions which you have taken-
with regard to the commitments made in the justification for continued
operation (JCO) dated related to the effects of the elevated reactor building
temperatures for Unit 1; and the leakage of the lower
inspection handhole cover on A and B once-through steam generators. Within
these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures
and representative records, interviews with personnel and plant observations by
the NRC inspectors.
The inspection findings are documented in the enclosed
inspection report.
Within the scope of the inspection, no violations or deviations were
identified.
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to
discuss them with you.
Sincerely,
Orlsin*I SIB
