.This is to advise'you of a- special i.nspection ' initiative 'that is in the late stages of planning. It will include ~ an inspection to be perfomed at the Wolf-Creek Generating Station. The initiative is entitled the "E0P Inspection _

Program." +

r The purpose'of thecinspection'is to verify at' selected sites that-the emergency operating procedures (EOPs) are technically accurate;' that their specified actions can be meaningfully accomplished using existing equipment, controls, and. instrumentation; and that the available procedures have the usability necessary to provide the operator with an effective operating tool.

The inspection program inclu' des a team 1.nspection of four plants for each of-the NSS vendor. types and the Wolf Creek plant was selected as one of the four Westinghouse plants to be inspected. The inspections are to be perfomed in the April through June 1988 timeframe.

The inspection team will include two or three senior reactor inspectors, a licensing examiner, a human factors specialist, and your senior resident inspector (Mr. Bruce Bartlett). The team leader for your inspection will be Mr. Ray Love from Region III. Mr. Love, or one of his supervisors, will be contacting you in the near future to discuss the inspection and to begin negotiating the inspection schedule.

Additional information and details of the program will be provided by your inspection team.
