NRC REGULATORYINFORMATION CONFERENCE The Ninth NRC Regulatory luformation Conference will be held on April 1-2,1997, at The Capital Hilton Hotel in Wash'ngton, D.C. The preliminary agenda for the conference is attached along with an information sheet, a hotel floor plan, an area map, and a special registration form 1
developed for NRC and interested metropolitan area government agency employees. Please disseminate this information, invite, or designate people on your staff to attend the conference.
We want to encourage attendance, but we also rieed to maintain the number of attendees at a reasonable level. Attendees from your organization should complete and return the attached registration form to Anna May Hayeraft Popp, mail stop O-12 E20, by March 10,1997.

'!he hotel is located at the comer of 16th and K Streets, just two blocks fmm The White House. For those taking the Metro, the Capital Hilton is located two blocks from the Farragut North Metro Stop on the Red Line and two blocks from the McPherson Square Metro Stop on the Blue / Orange Line. For those driving, valet parking is available as well as other local parkmg garages. See details under the " Parking and Transportation" section of this information sheet. An area map and hotel floor plan are enclosed.
REGISTRATION, HOTEL RESERVATIONS, AND MEALS:
A conference registration fee of $160 (tax and gratuity included), payable in ' advance to The Capital Hilton Hotel, includes two lunches (April 1 and 2), two continental breakfasts (April 1 and 2), all breaks, and handouts. Lunches both days will be in the Congressional / Senate Room.
Partial registration for lunches only is also available fmm the hotel for NRC employees and other metro-politan area govemment agency attendees. The fee (including tax and gratuity) for lunch on April 1 is
$38, and for lunch on April 2 is $36. A Special Registration Form for use by NRC and other metropolitan area govemment agency employees is anached. This form will enable you to pre-register and pre-pay for the Conference, and will save you considerable time in the registration lines. Please return this special form and your check for meal (s) made payable to The Capital Hilton Hotel to Anna May Haycraft-Popp, Confuence Coarthnator, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory 0 Won, Mail Stop O-12E20, Waeingmn. D.C. 20555, by March 10,1997. Only attendees with name badges and rneal tickets will be admined to the meal functions. Lunch on April 1 and 2 will be from 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Congressional / Senate Room, and the post luncheon speeches will be from 1:30 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. NRC employees and other metropoli-tan area government agency attendees who wish to hear the speaker without participating in the meal may do so by wearing their name badges and using the chairs placed in the back of Congressional /
Senate Room. Please do not enter before 1:15 p.m.
For the convenience of NRC regional and resident employees, a total of 25 govemment-rate rooms
($108.41 plus tax) have been reserved at The Capital Hilton Hotel. These rooms will be held at the government rate until March 10,1997. Regional and resident anendees should contact the hotel directly on (202) 393-1000, ask for reservations, use their gmT=ut aedit card, and identify themselves as a goverrunen employee eligible for the government rate to anend the NRC Regulatory Information Conference.

Everyone anendmg the conference must register in order to get a name badge and conference pmceedmgs.
Onsite Conference registration will commence in Foyer 1 on Monday evening, March 31, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Registration will resume in Foyer I and on the Capital Terrace on April 1 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and again on April 2 from 7:00 a.m. until noon. NRC and other metro-politan area govemment agencies will have a special area for registration. Payment at that time can be cash, credit card, or certified check made payable to The Capital Hilton Hotel. No personal checks will be accepted at the Conference. Meal tickets will be provided with your name badge and registration package upon registration.
TRANSPORTION AND PARKING:
The Capital Hilton Hotel is located at the corner of 16th and K Streets, NW,just two blocks from The White House. For those taking the Metro, the hotel is located two blocks from the Farragut North Metro Stop on the Red Line and two blocks from the McPherson Square Metro Stop on the Blue / Orange line. From the Farragut North Metro Stop, take the K Street Exit and walk two blocks east. From the McPherson Square Metro Stop, take the White House / Vermont Avenue Exit and walk one block west and then one block north. An area map is attached. (Attachment 4).

MEETING ROOMS:
The Presidential Ballroom will be used for the Opening and Closing Sessions, Plenary Sessions, and for the largest breakout sessions. The Congressional / Senate Room will be used for the second largest breakeut sessions, and for the lunches on April 1 and 2,1997. There will be a 45-minute break' before lunch on April 1 and 2 to allow the hotel to reset the room from a breakout session to a luncheon setup. Dunng that time (12:00 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.), the hotel will host a free reception in the Upperlebby/ Foyer 2 areas. There will also be a 30-minute break on April 2 from 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
to allow the hotel to reset the room from a luncheon setup to a breakout session. In these instances, please vacate the Congressional / Senate Room immediately to enable the hotel to quickly reset the room.
The Federal A&B Room will be used for the third largest breakout sessions.
