REFUELING INFORMATION The following refueling information is included in the Monthly Report as requested in an NRC letter to BECo, dated January 18, 1978:

For your convenience, the information supplied has been enumerated so that each number corresponds to equivalent notation utilized in the request.

1. The name of this facility is pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, Docket Number 50-293.
2. Scheduled date for next Refueling Shutdown: September 1986
3. Scheduled date for restart following refueling: November 1986
4. Due to their similarity, requests 4, 5, & 6 are responded to collectively under //6:
5. See #6.
6. The new fuel, which was loaded during the 1983-84 refueling outage, is of the same P8x8R design, as loaded the previous outage and consists of 160 P8DR8282 assemblies. In addition, 32 GE60-P8DR0282 assemblies were also loaded.
7. (n) There are 500 fuel assemblies in the core.

l (b) Thore are 1,128 fuel assemblies in the spent fuel pool.

8. (a) The station is presently licensed to store 2320 spent fuel assemblies. The actual usable spent fuel storage capacity is 2320 i fuel assemblies.

(b) The planned spent fuel storage capacity is 2320 fuel assemblies.

9. With present spent fuel in storage, the spent fuel pool now has the capacity to accommodate an additional 1192 fuel assemblies.

The month commenced with the unit at full power. Power was reduced to an average daily level of 97% on the third in response to inoperable isolated phase bus y cooling fans. From the fourth through the fifteenth, the unit was operated between

, 99% and 100% power.

3 On the sixteenth power was reduced to an average daily level of 64% to backwash the main condenser and perform a control rod pattern change. Power level was increased on the seventeenth and from the eighteenth through the twentieth was maintained between 99% and 100%. At approximately 2330 hours0.027 days <br />0.647 hours <br />0.00385 weeks <br />8.86565e-4 months <br /> on the twentieth a controlled shutdown was initiated in response to the standby liquid control system being  !

potentially inoperable. This reduced the average daily power level to 98%. The l shutdown was terminated on the twenty first and from the twenty first through the end of the month the unit was operated between 99% and 100% power.

An unusual event was declared on 2/14/86, when the "A" emergency diesel and a LPCI injection valve were simultaneously out of service for approximately two hours.
