Dennis H. Kwiatkowski Assistant Associate Director Office of Technological Hazards Federal Emergency Management Agency 500 C Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20472
Dear Mr. Kwiatkowski:
We recently received the enclosed letters from Congressman Schulze and State Senator Holl of Pennsylvania, requesting our assistance in addressing the concerns of a constituent, Helen Rakowski, about the location and testing of a warning siren fer the Limerick Generating Station.
In response to her specific concerns, the NRC staff has discussed this matter with officials of the Philadelphia Electric Company and concluded that FEMA and State and local officials need to be involved in any attempt to resolve the-issue. Accordingly, we request FEMA's assistance in determining any t.hanges that might be made in siren location, testing frequency, or other factors, to resolve Mrs. Rakowski's concern, without degrading the emergency notification system.
We appreciate your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely, Original signed by Robert A. Erickx,n Frank J. Congel, Director Division of Radiation Protection and Emergency Preparedness Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
