Dear Mr. Denton:
On December 30, 1985, a teleconference call was held with your staff to clarify certain portions of Attachment 3 to the referenced letter. The following itemize and detail the clarifications discuased:
ATTACHMENT 3 Clarifications Paragraph B.1.
The human factors (IIF) specialist on the CRDR team has personally reviewed the installation of all equipment covered by the CRDR program to identify Human Engineering Discrepancies (NEDs) based on his experience and the intent of NUREG-0700 guidelines. Additionally the HF specialist has participated in or reviewed all NUTAC or NUREG-0700 surveys used to identify HEDs.
Paragraph B.2.
The experience of the Vogtle CRDR team was evaluated as satisfactory during the NRC in-progress audit of July 9-11, 1985 reported in NRC letter of Septembe r 13, 1985.
Paragraph C.2.
Operations questionnaire items are used to supplement, not substitute for specific checks of equipment design against NUTAC and/or NUREG-0700 guidelines.

During the control board survey using NUTAC Overview Checklist, no mirror
. imaging was found. Lef t-right relationships are preserved in duplication of equipment, such as Train A/B.
Paragraph C.8.
Design conventions are identified in FSAR Section 18.1.2.
Paraaraph D.
The NUTAC 83-042 surveys for CRDR specifically lef t out sections of NUREG-0700. Those sections are identified in NUTAC 83-042 appendices B thru H.
To supplement the NUTAC survey, the Vogtle control room will be reviewed against the NUREG-0700 guidelines for those 0700 items identified in appendices B thru H.
The present schedule for our submittal of the CRDR Summary Report is May 30, 1986.
It is requested that the NRC conduct another CRDR in-progress audit in late February 1986.
Due to the scheduled resolution of this open item with respect to the OL date, we feel this audit will provide us with the assurance that the summary report will address all of your staffs concerns and provide for an expeditious review.
