_ Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant Unit 1 Narrative Summary of Operations June 1997 i

The fourteenth refueling outage continued through the month of June. The  ;

generator was synchronized to the grid at 1351 on June 4,1997.

l At 0617 on June 23,1997, with the unit in mode 1 operating at 100% reactor power, i the unit was ramped to approximately 64% reactor power due to an apparent l overspeed trip of the 1 A steam generator feed pump (SGFP). An investigation i was unable to determine the cause of the apparent overspeed trip.- For conservative corrective maintenance, four cards in the SGFP speed control circuit were replaced, the SGFP speed control was swapped to the spare speed pickup, a broken coupling key on the #1 lube oil pump was repaired. In addition, temporary instrumentation was installed to record SGFP speed, governor valve position, auto stop oil pressure and bearing oil pressure. l All repairs were completed and the unit was returned to 100% reactor power at 0120 on June 27,1997.

There was no major safety related maintenance performed during the month.
