REVISIONS TO SCOPE OF WORK UNDER TASK ORDERS 3, 4, and 8 0F CONTRACT NRC-12-96-004, JOB CODE J5147 Please issue modifications to the above three tasks of Contract NRC-12-96-004.

Job Code J5147.

The scope of modifications are similar to all three tasks and, are therefore, presented in a single Jackage.

The modifications require the CNWRA staff to participate in a Joint VMA/NRC Workshop in Denver, CO, June 3-5, 1997, and to consider all the public comments on the draft SRP in finalizing the SRPs.

Changes to the 50W for the three tasks are attached.

It is noted that the modifications require both additional money and time to-complete the task. As the participation in worksho) requires travel in the beginning of June 1997, these modifications shr;uld 3e approved and funded as early as possible.

(1) A.s per the direction of the NRC management. CNWRA staff will be travelling to Denver. CO. to participate in a Joint NMA/NRC Workshop on Uranium Recovery Issues, June 2-5. 1997.

(2) NRC management has decided to publish the final draft of tne SRP for public comments.

CNWRA is required to consider all public comments and aapro)riately factor them, with staff consensus.

2. As the Standard Review Plan proceeds th cugh "significant" revisions CNWRA

It.is not expected that these drafts shall be formal deliverables to the NRC. but shall be sent by FAX and email, with the purpose of maintaining an active

.i' dialogue between CNWRA and NRC staff.

3. A' draft of the Acceptance Review Section shall be prepared which includes i

qualitative and quantitative options for acceptance criteria.

1. The NRC staff will provide an orientation to retevati contractor staff on

the NRC's approach to the review of geotechnical and health physics aspects of reclamation / decommissioning plans for uranium recovery sites. The orientation will include a discussion of relevant guidance and regulations applicable to 4

uranium mining disposal operations.

2. Contractor will propose changes to the SRP based on a combination of HRC identified snurtcomings to the visting procedure, differences between the 1

conduct of Title I and II site reviews, and any other applicable review -

guidance (e.g., CNWRA report, etc;).

3. The CNWRA shall participate in Joint NHA/NRC Workshop on Uranium Recovery
