M0hTHLY 0 PIRATING REPORT - OCTOBER 1985 At the beginning 'of the report period, Oyster Creek was operating at 625 MWe, - Ioad continued to be limited by second stage steam reheaters being out-of-service due to reheater relief valve V-1-133 inoperability.

'Ihe valve will be replaced during the fall 1985 Outage (Cycle 10M).

'A' isolation condenser was declared inoperable on 0ctober 8, after DC steam inlet valve V-14-31 failed operability ~ testing.

Inspections determined cause of failure to be inadequate motor brush spring tension and a loose torque switch which affected the switch setpoint. 'Ihe motor was replaced, tested, and the valve returned to operable status on October 10.

On October 17, power was increased to 633 MWe due to reduced intake canal temperatures.

' On October 18, reactor shutdown conmenced in preparation for the month-long mini-outage to complete required Environmental Qualification modifications.

Cold shutdown was achieved on October 19 and the 10M Outage connenced.
