Subject: Systematic Assessment of Licensee Performance (Inspection No.
50-354/85-99)
On January 16, 1986, as documented in the enclosed report, the NRC Region I
SALP Board evaluated activities associated with the Hope Creek Generating
Station.
A meeting has been scheduled at the Hope Creek site on February 27, 1986, at
1:30 p.m., to discuss the SALP. This meeting is intended to provide a forum
for candid discussion, including your plans to improve performance and any
comments you have on the assessment. We would like you to be prepared to
discuss at the meeting the possible root causes and future implications of
problems related to electrical and I&C construction activities as discussed
in Section IV B of the enclosed report. Also, following the SALP meeting we
would like to discuss with you and your staff the status and results of the
preoperational test program.
Finally, please respond to the assessment in writing within 20 days after the
SALP discussion meeting. The SALP report (supplemented and modified as
appropriate) and your response will then be placed in the NRC Public Document
Room.
