This. letter is to inform you that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) i staff has finished reviewing and. deliberating on the April 24, 1997, request by Lucent Technologies, Incorporated (Lucent), to withhold certain information j

from NRC Inspection Report 99901309/96-01 in accrdance with Section 2.790, i

"Public inspecilons, exemptions, requests for withholding," of Part 2, " Rules of Practice for Domestic Licensing Proceedings and Issuance of Orders," of q

Title 10 of the Code of Federa7 Recu7atfons (10 CFR Part 2.790).

has concluded that each item that Lucent requested to be withheld from public

disclosure in the subject NRC Inspection report meets the threshold delineated j

in 10 CFR Part 2.790. A copy of the nonproprietary (public) version of the subject report is enclosed.

' Additionally, thank you for your April 24, 1997, letter in resporise to the 1

l Notice of Nonconformance (NON) that was attached to the subject inspection i

report. We have reviewed your letter and find that your reply to the NON is responsive to our concern. We will review the implementation of your corrective actions during a future U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff 1

inspection to determine that full compliance has been achieved and will be maintained. We have no further questions at this time and will review the i.

corrective action and preventative measures which Lucent has taken during a future inspection.
