SPECIAL REPORT SR-97-001-00 Steam Generator Eddy Current Examination (8th Refueling)

On May 1,1997, Waterford 3 completed a 100% inservice eddy current bobbin coil full length examination of each Steam Generator (S/G) and a 100% hot leg top of the tubesheet. This report is submitted in accordance with Technical Specification (TS) 4.4.4.5.a, which requires reporting the number of tubes plugged in each S/G within 15 days of completing inservice inspection (ISI) of S/G tubes pursuant to TS 6.9.2. A follow-up report will be submitted in accordance with TS 4.4.4.5.b by May 1.,1998.

The total number of tubes which have been plugged in each SIG are shown below:

i The total number of tubes which have been plugged in each S/G:

SIG #1 S/G#2 Total:

378 376 S/G #1 (8 Plugs) and S/G #2 (3 Plugs) cold leg Westinghouse inconel-600 mechanical ribbed plugs were removed by electrical discharge machining.

Framatome Technologies, Inc, re-plugged the eleven tube locations with a long threaded rolled mechanical Inconel-690 plug.
