SUBJECT:

SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR MASONRY WALL DESIGN, IE BULLETIN 80-11 Re: Haddam Neck Plant Millstone Unit 1 By letters dated November 4, 1980, March 3, 1981 and June 26, 1981, Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCo) and Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNECO) provided information concerning the status of masonry walls at the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Unit 1. By letters dated December 3, 1982, December 31, 1985, February 18 and March 7, 1986, CYAPCo and NNEC0 provided additional responses to staff requests for information.

Based on our review of the CYAPCo and NNEC0 submittals, the staff concludes-that there is reasonable assurance that the safety-related masonry walls at-the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Unit I would withstand the specified design load conditions without impairment of either wall integrity or performance of the required safety function. Copies of our Safety Evaluations are enclosed.

This completes our review of masonry wall design at the Haddam Neck Plant and Millstone Unit 1.
