Dear Mr. Cruse:

l By letter dated May 23, 1997, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE)

{ submitted four IPA System and Commodity Reports for staff review and approval

in accordance with 10 CFR Part 54, the license renewal rule. This letter is to acknowledge receipt of the four IPA System and Commodity Reports and to 3 inform you that the staff is prepared to start technical reviews of the IPA

! reports. In making its determination to begin technical reviews of the four

i. IPA reports, the staff reviewed each report to determine if it contained sufficient information to begin a technical review. The staff's review consisted of evaluating the reports against the final version (dated August-

30,1996) of the BGE template. As discussed at the January 9, 1997, senior 1

management meeting, the staff has concluded that proper implementation of the 1 template should result in technical reports with a format and content

! sufficient for the staff to begin a technical review. For these four IPA 4

System and Commodity Reports, the staff concludes that BGE properly

implemented the template and by doing so provided sufficient information for j the staff to begin a technical review.

I I will contact your staff to inform them of the review schedule for these reports and to coordinate site visits or any other interactions necessary for the review of these reports.
