Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. C. H. Schelbelhut
of this office on February 24-28 and March 3-7, 1986, of activities at Clinton
Power Station authorized by NRC Construction Permit No. CPPR-137 and to the
discussion of our findings with Mr. D. P. Hall and others of your staff at the
conclusion of the inspection.
The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
interviews with personnel.
Certain other activities, set forth in the enclosure to this letter, appear
to be a deviation from certain guides, codes and standards which have been
endorsed by the Connission.
Please advise us in writing within thirty days
of the date of this letter of the correct.ive action you have taken or plan to
take, showing the estimated date of completion with regard to this deviation.
The responses directed by this letter and the accompanying Notice are not
subject to the clearance procedures of the Office of Management and Budget
as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, PL 96-511.
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
