The subjects discussed at this meeting are described in the-enclosed meeting summary.

It is our opinion that this meeting was beneficial and has provided for a better understanding of the qualification criteria for the individual designated as the Radiation Protection Manager. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR RADIATION PROTECTION HANAGER'(RPM)

.On March'6, 1986, representatives of Texas Utilities Electric Company met with Mr. Blaine Murray'of.the NRC Region IV office in Arlington, Texas, to discuss qualification-requirements for the RPM position. The attendance list is attached as Appendix A to this Summary. The meeting was held at the request' of Texas Utilities Electric Company.

The following' items were discussed during the meeting:

• Qualification criteria contained'in NRC Regulatory Guide 1.8, Revision 1, 1975, " Personnel Selection and Training."

• RPM qualification requirements.

• Clarification of " Equivalent" regarding RPM qualifications.

• Previous work experience that can be applied toward qualifying as the RPM.
