Box 128 San Clemente, California 92674-0128 SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-361/97-09;50-362/97-09 Dear Mr. Ray: l An NRC inspection was conducted April 6 through May 17,1997, at your San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 reactor facilities. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection. During the 6-week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of activities at the San Onofre facilities was generally characterized by safety-conscious operation, sound engineering and maintenance practices, and careful radiological work controls. In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, its enclosure, and your response, if any, will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR). .
