.- 1. PURPOSE

!~

1.1 Objective The objective of this procedure is to provide instructions for gagging the topworks assembly of the main steam safety / relief valves.

1.2 Discussion 1

The main steam safety / relief valves used in Unit 1 are Target Rock Model 7567F pilot-operated valves. This procedure is written for gagging the . i topworks assembly of this valve. The topworks for the Target Rock j safety / relief valve consists of the air operator assembly and pilot stage . )

assembly. '

The gagging activity, which maintains the pilot valve in the closed position, is necessary to prevent safety / relief valve actuation during reactor vessel hydrostatic testing.

Two different models of solenoids are installed on'the safety / relief valves: l Models 1/2-SMS-A-01 and 1/2-SMS-S-02-1 (newer model). The different solenoids have correspondingly different manifolds that connect the solenoid to the topworks.

This procedure provides instructions for gagging safety / relief valves with either model solenoid and manifold assembly installed or removed.

Instructions for removal and installation of the solenoid and manifold assemblies are in MP 717.8," Main Steam Safety Relief Valve - Solenoid Changeout (EQ)."
