McGuire Nuclear Station Commitment Status, 50-369, 50-370
Dear Dr. Grace:
The purpoise.of this letter is to advise you of the status of two commit-ments that were to be completed by Jaouary 1, 19h6. The first of these involves the installation of an on-si.e emergency radio (reference my letter of April 30, 1985 responding to Inspection Report 50-369/84-28 and 50-370/84-25, regarding fire protection matters). This system is partially installed and not fully operational as of January 2, 1986.
It will be made fully operational as soon as possible.
By letter dated December 7, 1984 Duke Power Company stated that the final security access control system would be implemented by the last quarter of 1985. This system has been installed on both the McGuire units, however, due to wiring and software problems is not completely operational. Duke i
Power estimates these pecblems will result in a seven to ten day delay in achieving full operationalability of this system. During this period i
adequate compensatory reasures, as addressed in Chapters 8 and 15 of the McGuire Security Plan, will be provided by the site security personnel.
